Stock Rad is 3 row ok
I have searched and read extensively but haven't found the answer. Has anyone used a Stock copper/brass 3 row rad on their LS conversions. I know lots of guys used the stock rad, but its not real clear how many rows everyone used? I plan on running the LM7 engine driven fan and stock SBC shroud.

Re: Stock Rad is 3 row ok
Andy thanks for the quick reply, what do you mean by 3-4 row? When I look inside the cap on mine there are only 3 rows of tubes visible. Looks like there is room for another row in the end tanks. Its in good shape and didn't want to re-core if I don't have to.
Thanks Ken

Re: Stock Rad is 3 row ok
I'm running a stock 4 row with dual e-fans and it ranges from 180*-190* and never rises above that. My guess is you'd be OK with a 3 row as long as you don't have a/c...and don't plan on hauling/towing heavy loads with it.

A 3 row should be just fine vortecs are designed to run hotter than a gen 1 block by design.

A 3 row copper and brass here in the desert with a puller fan and in the hot part of the day with the A/C on it reads 195.8*, this is a new stock replacement rad for my 78 5.3 conversion
