Lost reverse and overdrive

So I went to make my first long trip and lost reverse and overdrive, the fluid looks good and wasn't low, could my transfer case cause this? Or something else wrong?

And how hard is it to put in a 4l80 in place of it? I know where I can score one real cheap with only 112 k

Re: Lost reverse and overdrive

Sounds like a stripped sun shell. It could be repaired in a day with less than $50 in parts

Re: Lost reverse and overdrive

Follow Clinebarger's Rebuild Thread. I've put just the shell in many trans (at the owners frugal request). Never a problem just take a look at the 3-4 clutches while its apart (the other common failure point)
