5.3L with AC compressor in stock location?

I picked up on Friday an L59 5.3L out of a 2005 Avalanche that I'm going to swap into my 1972 C10. I have a bunch of stuff worked out but I'm looking for a set of motor mounts that will allow me to run the stock 5.3L AC compressor if possible. I wasn't expected to get it as part of the deal with the engine & transmission, but since they included it, I'd like to use it if I can. Any input, suggestions, feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks - Matt

The ECE conversion mounts will allow you to run the ac in the stock location.

The dirty dingo sliders will also allow the compressor to mount in the stock location if you get creative.

Re: 5.3L with AC compressor in stock location?

Made my own- took a day, solved all problems. Look on my Ol yeller's new heart thread and this one (Where I got the idea)

http://ls1tech.com/forums/conversion...71-c-10-a.html

Big tube out the top- cut it and turn as necessary, reweld. Small tube- there's a fitting in the condenser on mid-'00's Tahoes that takes it straight out the front. Chop the appropriate turned fitting off somethin else to hook it over the frame rail, weld, good to go!

Question Re: 5.3L with AC compressor in stock location?

Matt for the hasle of fittings and hooking up the lines it's well worth it to have it mounted up on top. + if you ever have to work on it are swap out the compressor you want have to pull the motor to do so. My 2 cents worth. Plus it will look as though it period correct up top.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: 5.3L with AC compressor in stock location?

I used the factory 5.3 compressor and also the factory evaporator from a 71 and it works fine. BUT it was a major PIA. In my case I can change the compressor by removing the radiator and shroud and pulling out the compressor thru the front. Just depends on your budget and time and what you want to do. It can be done but I prolly won't do it again :-)

Re: 5.3L with AC compressor in stock location?

I have the POL mounts and non adjustable plates. I also have my compressor mounted low and have the DOCs Blocks, I had to massage the frame rail to allow me to access the compressor bolts and fittings when servicing.

Hope this helps.

NOT UNDER "DOCS" But like Mayfield said, there are some good choices out there. I think there was another one also....
