Cylinder head work.......
Ive been having a miss fire issue lately on my stock 350 5.7 carb 86 model, the original quadrajet carb could use some cleaning, maybe a rebuild, the choke housing was missing the rivet screws and the choke will cause rich mixture, and backfire issues. I wanted to post a video of the engine running to hear the ticking sounds which I believe are the valves, and when underloads at times will slightly knock and stall power on acceleration at times, Ive thought about getting a valve job, then I thought about replacing or getting some more heads in good shape put on and starting over fresh, and probably grab an intake manifold for upgrading, any suggestions ????

Re: Cylinder head work.......
Start with a leak down check. If the exhaust valves are bad, you'll hear air out the exhaust pipe. If the intake valves are bad, you'll hear it through the intake/carb. If neither of these things happen, your valves are fine.
If the rings are bad, you'll hear it through the oil fill or PCV. If this doesn't happen, your rings are fine. If you have a bad head gasket, you will see bubbles in the radiator. If this doesn't happen, your head gaskets are fine. If none of the above happens then your problem is with fuel delivery, spark, or vacuum leaks or any combination there of.
