power steering too powerful
I have my '54 3100 c10 sitting on an '80 frame. I have a ps leak and I'm going to have to have the gearbox replaced. One thing I've always been dissatisfied with the ps on the '80 is that the power is too strong. Too easy to over steer and no feel for the road. Any tips or suggestions as to what I can do to lessen the power?

Re: power steering too powerful
Drive with one hand. When I drive newer cars they steer so hard I have to use two hands on hard corners. I miss the days of driving with one hand, that's why I drive old Caddys

You can change the pressure of the pump put out to the gear box. Remove the plug/regulator from the rear of the pump and shorten the spring or get the shim kit to adjust it. This will lower the pressure and make it a firmer feel.

Re: power steering too powerful
Thanks Homemade. It looks like the Borgeson kit is fairly easy to install. I've had this truck for about 12 years and never liked the over-powered power steering. I wont be doing anything for about a month or more but can't wait to try it out.
