Aftermarket Door Panels and Paint Question

I am in need of a set of door panels for my 87 Chevy Truck. Interior color is Carmine and they do not sell that color as far as I can find. My question is should I start with bright red or black panels if I am going to paint them with the SEM Carmine spray paint? Does anyone know if this paint is close to the factory color and does it hold up pretty good? Thanks for the help.

SEM is about the best product you can buy and as long as you prepare the surface properly it should last for years. I do not know if the color is close to the original

Sem Carmine Color Coat is NLA. But check this out (not my story):

I needed some Carmine Red dye and wanted to use SEM products. They no longer make that shade so I improvised.

I cleaned the pieces with soap and water, rinsed thoroughly and then used Bulldog adhesion promoter. After the adhesion promoter had flashed off, I applied a light coat of Firethorne Red (15113), followed by a coat of Portalo Red (15363) and finished with a coat of Satin Gloss (13013).

Results:



The piece on the left is a piece of the original Carmine Red headliner trim. The one on the right was one of the used Tan pieces that was recolored as described above.
