Any 50's 1 ton long wheel base panels out there?
1 have a 51 long bed with the factory 17 inch split rims. Had it for 20 years. Just wondering if anyone else has one.

NO, but they are way cool. I kick myself because I passed on a 59 1 ton long panel about 10 years ago, was a good working carpet installers truck that was moving out of state. Good price, just did not have room in the herd.

We can't have em (and keep em) all but Lord knows we try...
I have very good memories of my life in Idaho, 1974 to 1976 (Air Force). My sis lives in Sun Valley. I just bought a 77 short step 4X4 in Portland that I'm going to fly out and drive home. Hopefully I'll detour thru Idaho and visit her. |

I had a 54 3804 truck. Bought it for parts for my 3600. Wish I had kept it.
My buddy has a 3800 panel that he bought for his antique business. It has a 250 swapped in place of the 216. He puts a coughin in the back at Halloween. Great for some laughs. |

Yep, Mt. Home AFB. Rode my suzuki TM 250 all over that desert.
Thanks for the offer, it may be awhile before I can get out there to get the 77. |

Re: Any 50's 1 ton long wheel base panels out there?
Actually, I know where there's one (a AD) for sale if anyone's interested.
A guy near me who restores old farm tractors and sells them has one. He's not an internet savvy kinda guy, so no CL ad or anything to show. I get by there about once a week, so I could take pics and get his phone number if anyone's interested. It's in Fincastle, VA 24090. I've only seen it driving by, but it looks in excellent un-restored condition from 20 feet away. I never had any interest in it just because I don't like the long wheelbase. If there's interest, I'll be over that way in a week or so.

so sad. that panel is the poster child for why you should not use spray foam to insulate/sound deaden a truck

Re: Any 50's 1 ton long wheel base panels out there?
I used to drive my '47 1 ton panel every day, now I look at it every day and start it up a few times a year. It is a beast to drive, but I have gone 80mph on the highway.

jimmillac: use the IMG tag from photobucket to post pics on a forum
when you click the IMG tag it will copy the link, then go to the forum and use contr+v to paste

Re: Any 50's 1 ton long wheel base panels out there?
I have had a 1957 for the past 16 years and have made poor progress. The original plan was to do an IFS swap and make it a daily driver but I think that has sailed and I am leaning towards an adventure van. Here is a pic from the day we brought her home.
