'91 power doors on '79 cab - outside lock issue
Hi there, I just purchased a '79 K20 (my first squarebody - woohoo!). The PO switched the front clip and doors with a '91 Suburban.
However, there is no lock for the outside of the door. I took the panel off and it looks like the actuator is there, but not lined up with the hole. I'm not sure if it needs to, but... I'm trying to figure out if all I need are the door lock cylinders, or something else? I did an advance search already and didn't find any threads that discuss this. I found this set at Advance, but I'm not sure how this connects to the actuator. Anyone else know?

In addition to the door lock cylinders you'll also need the lock pawls ... they're basically metal linkage pieces that connect the lock cylinders to the latch mechanism. See item #19 in this LMC catalog listing --> http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cc/full.aspx?Page=17

Re: '91 power doors on '79 cab - outside lock issue
Thanks Ray. It looks like it would all be included if I ordered #16. It just doesn't look like it would reach the actuator, linkage, or anything.

Re: '91 power doors on '79 cab - outside lock issue
I used 89 burb parts in 78 doors
my 78 used metal clips to join the rods/locks 89 and newer used plastic clips, maybe he didn't have all the parts. do the locks have a pivot(lever joins the manual and the actuator)

Re: '91 power doors on '79 cab - outside lock issue
Thanks Motornut. Do you mean the little pole/knob that sticks up on the door (for manual control)? I'm not sure. I want to say yes, but I'm not certain. The switch for the power locks do nothing but I can move that little knob up and down (I have not confirmed if it actually locks the door though - will test it tonight).
Right now not having power locks is not an issue. I just want to be able to secure my truck from the outside. It looks like I need the cylinder, the clip, and the pawl so it connects to the rest of the linkage - right?
