61 chevy grille vs 64-66 swap
Hi y'all new to this board, getting ready to begin a 61 buildup... (2wd, going for a hotrod, being "original" isn't on my radar)
I have already bought a 63 hood to change out from the 60-61 hood which I am not fond of... the only thing left I would love to change would be to get a 64-66 type grille and headlights in there, as I like the style better, is this at all possible? would it bolt in or require some kind of custom fabrication? Thanks! |

Re: 61 chevy grille vs 64-66 swap
Welcome to the forum!! Take a look at my 61. It might change your mind about the grill swap. I have a '60 grill on my '61 and the later model hood which I prefer also.

Re: 61 chevy grille vs 64-66 swap
keep the 61 grille!
but if you are set on the 64-5-6 grille they are held on with 3 bolts per side, the top outer corner bolts line up, the other 2 holes on each side will have to be drilled.

If you still have it, I'd be interested in buying your 61 hood if its in good shape and there was a way to get it to Illinois reasonably? I actually like the look

Re: 61 chevy grille vs 64-66 swap
Bill sorry but I am disappointed. I always dislike when someone destroys a 60-61 apache by changing the hood and grill. Those are what set these 2 from all the rest. Ya should of bought a 62-66. That being said I still love all 60-66.

Re: 61 chevy grille vs 64-66 swap
well I am a hot rodder, I'm not a "original" kinda guy... and I would have bought a 62-66 had there been one, but things are kinda scarce and expensive, so I did what I had to. The 60-61 hood looks good on a restored original kinda thing, but doesnt really fit my taste for a hotrod.
