carpet with no tank

I want to re-carpet my cab, but I wonder if the kits go all the way to the back wall, because I moved my tank. Anyone know about this. I see lots of offers online for ACC kits, but none specify the tank deal.

I got a carpet from Brothers for my 64' that goes all the way to the back but I will have to see if it buts up to the tank or has some extra length...

Re: carpet with no tank

I just installed carpet from www.stockinteriors.com in my 65. The carpet fit very well, form molded to the floor pans, no wrinkles at all. I had to trim about 5-6 inches off the length because I left the tank in place. There was also extra along the sides under the sill plate that needed to be trimmed off.

Best part is they were about the cheapest also.

Re: carpet with no tank

I used LMC carpet and it is long enough to reach the back wall with no tank. May still require some trimming as well. I did have to trim it on the sides.

I ordered a carpet kit from stockinteriors.com which is a reseller for acc mats and they could not make a carpet wider for me (I have 100% of an s10 floorpan in the middle of about 7 inches per side of 1965 floorpan) but they do sell extra carpet by the yard. I bought two extra yards and will seam it with some fiberglass carpet seaming tape, should be ok. You could probably do the same, order a little extra and just make it enough.

I will say that I was able to order a much longer carpet than I needed, I bought for an ext cab s10 so the extra length would go all the way up the back wall. I would bet money if you called them, the width is the limiter, but they could make it as long as you want. I dont know this for sure, but I did talk to them a lot about my options and it did seem like the width was the limiter.

Re: carpet with no tank

I have it in my 66 from Stock interiors and it fit very well. I dont have the tank in mine and the carpet went all the way to the back of the cab.

Thumbs up Re: carpet with no tank

Hey, welcome to the board Calornot...I grew up in Riverside and still own a house there over near Jurupa and Palm.
My 65' Chevy panel is down there collecting dust while I finish my parts collection.
You will soon see that the board has quite a bunch of enthusiastic truck owners that are both helpful & informative. jon
