BATT light staying lit. :/
So yesterday we had a nice day here in Virginia Beach. I threw the yellow Lab in the truck and rolled around town.
As I am rolling do the road, some smartguy decided pulling out in front of a truck moving 50 mph was a wise choice. I got on the brakes pretty hard and immediately after, my BATT light was steadily lit. I pulled over right away, thinking that maybe my alternator plug had come lose or something. All check out ok under the hood, and so I cautiously carried on back toward the house. At this point I fully expected the truck to kill the battery before I got home figuring that the charging system was not functioning. I made it all the way home, checked a few more things visually (it was getting dark so I couldnt do much more) I expected to come out this morning to a dead battery thinking maybe a wire was pinched in my abrupt hault. No dice there either! She started just fine and rolled to work like usual. So now I am at a loss. I have yet to check voltage anywhere, so I am not sure of charging voltage yet. I looked over all the plugs and followed the wires to make sure they were all connected as they should be. Ill try to get that done this eve. Specs: 64 C10 84' 350 84' alternator no gauge, just the lamp. :/ Thanks guys. I am not sure where to look next.

Re: BATT light staying lit. :/
You probably have a shorted diode in the alt. They will still charge like that but not full capacity. If you like to do you own work they are pretty easy to tear down & test.

Re: BATT light staying lit. :/
Turned out to be the regulator. It has been in the back of my mind to have a spare on hand, as I know they are a fairly common failure. Figures aye! Hahahahah
Thanks for your help WrenchbuilderRet

Re: BATT light staying lit. :/
That is what it was on my 66 as well when that happened. Glad it was a easy fix.
