Wow, someone finally did it! I'll be real interested in someone here reviewing these for everyone. I already have enough so don't need them. At that price you can bet they're made in China. Even if they are lower quality than OEM, they'd be a good alternative for a driver.

Well, well... Our little world has changed. What may seem like a small step forward for the niche market of 60-66 Suburban owners, could actually be an early indicator of widespread acceptance and complete aftermarket support for nearly any part needed.
Imagine OE reproduction seat covers for all years at a reasonable cost, exact match factory floor mats INCLUDING Suburban middle mats! I can also see 61-63 hubcaps, offset base mirror heads, correct tailgate chain covers, solid tinted windshields,
Shortbox bedsides, etc., etc. ....Yeah ok, maybe not. Lol

No worries Winston, I feel better using original parts on my vehicles .

As for other parts, I spoke to a guy at the truck shop who knew something about the reproduction market. I asked him why they didn't make the hubcap bowtie the correct size or try harder to make the parts correctly, his response was , its not worth the effort or expense. These don't look to bad but like Victoriahardware said , what's the quality ? Most of the stuff made is to slap a vehicle together and sell it, satisfy a market with cheap parts.

60-66 i hear ya, i love oem parts any day over aftermarket, sep normal wear items. plus the search for that uber odd rare part keeps the hobby fun!!! i may have just bought an uber rare piece today, once its in my hands i'll post it...

There is a guy who works at the Truck Shop in Orange with a 65 suburban. He allegedly had Counterpart use his tailight lenses and his rear window latches to make reproductions. When I talked to him last weekend he said he is also trying to get them to make the outer window frames since so many are rusted or rotted through on the bottoms.

I saw the latches and they look pretty nice. They are polished stainless. But I suspect that like other cheap chinese stainless these may oxidize a little faster than expected. That said, since these are an interior item it may not be an issue.

I'd call the Truck Shop at 1-800-243-8947. They have them in their new print catalog but it isn't on the online catalog. If i remember correctly they are about $65 a piece.

Also, a member on here, Perro, has lots of these original parts because he parts out trucks and suburbans in the central valley of California like nobody's business. Prices definitely aren't cheap but he usually has decent stuff. I've purchased form him before and am happy. But at the rate he's going I'll be surprised if there are any pickups left in California in a couple years!

I know a guy local to me that sells original ones for $100 each and has at least a dozen laying around, I just can't pay $100 for it. The ones listed on ebay were $65 for a pair so hopefully IF they would sell a single it would only be $35. That I could pay.

I have some that came with my burb, but I'm in the process of repairing the frames and installing new weather stripping. How do the latches attach?

You'll need glass tape, .055" x 2" x 3 1/2" for each latch

I'm looking around for the right thickness. I see a lot of 3/64" and 1/16", but not much luck so far on the .055"

I just reviewed my notes, pictures, and parts. Sorry the tape should be .062" x 1.5" x 3.5" . So 1/16 = .0625 . This is what I used and it worked right. The rubber has to take up the space between the glass and the steel latch channel and it can't be too loose or too tight.

Here is a picture of an original rubber, a flattened out rubber (dry/cracked), a cardboard template, the new rubber, and a latch. The template is 1 1/2" x 3 1/2" with a 5/8" hole in the center.

Also a picture of the rubber held to the glass with black electrical tape. The steel channel was then pushed on.

The 3rd picture is the other side showing the rubber squeezed out.

Lastly you take a knife and trim all the edges.

Thanks! this is perfect! I'm in the process of repairing my sliding frames and I'll be ordering rubber from Steele Rubber soon. I'll be sure to add some of the tape to my order
