Suburban frame question
Hello all,
Just joined and would like to give props to all the knowledgeable folks here. I am hoping someone will be able to help me out with my latest project. I have a very mechanical sound 73 4x4 3/4 ton burb but the body is on its last leg. I have found a very clean 86 1/2 ton 4x4 burb with a bent frame. I would like to put the 86 on the 73 frame but am having a difficult time finding information on if the body mounting locations are the same and if this is a feasible option? Any and all information would be greatly appreciated. |

Re: Suburban frame question
If the frame is bent, how is the rest of the body? Was it in an accident? Was it repaired? Properly? It might look good on the surface, but that might be the extent. I ask because that in itself might give you some grief trying to line things up!

Re: Suburban frame question
The body should bolt right on the frame,But like said if the old ones frame is bent the body on the frame might be bent also.

Re: Suburban frame question
Thanks for the info guys.
The 86 body has no rust or body damage that I can find. The owner stated that his son took the truck out during a snow storm and slid off the road hitting a solid steel post just high enough to impact directly on the right side frame horn buckling the frame between the shock mount and the rear front spring mount. In doing so it also took out the front bumper, grill and wrinkled the right fender but I do not see any damage to the body itself. All doors close good and have an even gap line around them. |
