Rear Bumper max tow weight
Can't seem to find much information on this. Took off the hitch on my C20 (aftermarket anyhow) so I could put in the underbed gas tank. The bumper is extremely stout mounted with 4 x 1/2" Grade 8 bolts. I'm assuming this is pretty close to how it came stock... any thoughts on what the max weight would be?
Not too worried about the engine, 283, 4 speed manual. I'm in 4th gear before I get through the intersection.

Re: Rear Bumper max tow weight
It should have trailer weight ratings stamped on it somewhere ...
I'm going to guess 500 lbs tongue and 5000 lbs gross. I've towed some pretty heavy trailers off of a step bumper ball but of course they do have limits and vary by brand. BTW, they make receiver hitches for Suburbans to fit around the gas tank

Re: Rear Bumper max tow weight
Most step bumpers have the weight rating stamped on it. Generally their rated for 500lb tongue weight pulling a max of 5000lbs.
