Re: Trailer tires

Well My enclosed trailer is 24' and has 8 lug 7200 # axles with brakes on both axles . I currently have 235/85/16 10 ply truck tires on it . 3 of the tires are 8 years old . I had one break a cord last year and I put a used tire on it then . Last trip I cut a tire on construction junk . The spare is 3 years old and currently on the ground plus I have a new truck tire I bought last weekend . The tire shop keeps new wheels in stock for about $50 . so ill stow the spare and buy a rim for the new tire and I ordered 4 of these today . There was a thread were someone had tire issues and it got my thinking . Gross weight on my trailer is 8-9000 lbs

Re: Trailer tires

I had Marathon trailer tires on my enclosed. They have a HORRIBLE reputation (google for some of the horror stories)

I replaced them with Carlsile Traile tires from Discount Tire. The road hazard certs cost like $18 extra per tire. Guarenteed for life of the tread. I asked specifically about dry rot cracking and safety,, they said if the sidewall starts cracking they will replace them FREE down to 40% tread. I'm sure you have the same issue there as we have here in the hear. They crack all to hell LONG before the tread is even showing wear.

Figure i 'bought' the last trailer tires I will every have to pay for.

Re: Trailer tires

You think trailer tires suck. You should try replacing motor home rv tires. Those get expensive. Lot of times you will never wear out a trailer tire. They just dry rot. Radials are the way to go now.

Marv if they stand behind that warranty when it is time. Consider your self lucky.
