anyone use LED bulbs in the instrument cluster?

I see lots on ebay but do they really fit the sockets and work?

Thanks, Stuart

Re: Dash light bulbs LED?

I had a buddy put them in a 70 ford pickup (I know I shouldn't call him a friend LOL) he said they were a lot better than the factory bulbs. I am running them in my 87 buick and I like them. It is my understanding that LED bulbs the current runs one direction so if they don't work turn them 180 degrees. My plan is to ran them in my blazer once I get it together.

Re: Dash light bulbs LED?

I used them in my Blazer. You can no longer dim them with the factory switch. You would need to add a PWM (Pulse Width Modulator) to dim LEDs. Also, I took the cluster apart and painted over the mint green with a gloss white. I did this because I used red LEDs. Make sure the LEDs you pick have diodes that point sideways to illuminate the entire cluster.
