Raising (not lowering) Torsion Bars
I've got a 61 C10 with torsion bars. Problem is, that after I put in the 2.5" drop spindles the truck is lower than I want it to be. I would like to try and level out the ride a bit more from front to back. Currently, the front is 5 inches lower than the back and its rubbing the fender on the passenger side.
So, past couple of days, I have been soaking the adjustment bolts in WD40 before attempting this. Since these T-bars have probably never been adjusted, can someone give me some practical pointers on how to raise the truck properly? Looking to add about 1 1/2 inch of ride height to the front. Rear is on bags. Do I need to worry about breaking these things? Tom

Re: Raising (not lowering) Torsion Bars
It's more work, but I would use a floor jack to raise the front end up before adjusting the bolts. This will take the pressure off the assembly making it easier to adjust. It just might take a few adjustments before you are happy with the final result.

Re: Raising (not lowering) Torsion Bars
make sure you count how many times you turn it so you can do the same to the other side. It will take a little time to settle after you raise it up. Go drive over some speed bumps to make it settle. Also keep an eye on the upper nuts on the bolts. One of mine had a tendency to turn when I turned the bolt. It probably will not but it might. It is a big bolt. I had to use a monkey wrench to keep it in place.

Re: Raising (not lowering) Torsion Bars
Thank you Gentleman...
I ended up raising the front end 2 inches. Seems about 2 turns of each bolt would raise it up (in my case) about 1/4". I took your advice, jacked up the truck, made the adjustments and then let it down, taking it for a ride of about 3 miles and them coming back to remeasure. Took me three trips but got it exactly where I wanted it. I love these torsion bars!!! Tom
