Parts cleaner tank solvent
So what is everyone using in their parts cleaner tank as a solvent. I tried the HF mix with water type, did not like the result. So what would you guys recommend for a cleaning solvent in the tank.

I like the Graymills Super Agitene, it's pricey but it works well and isn't too hard on my hands. Varsol is another that I used to get at the parts store, I would give it a good second and Kerosene if those aren't available.

most washer tank fluids are 409 based or so they smell similar
i prefer mineral spirits over diesel only for the smell

The marine clean from POR15 works wonders for me. Use gloves as it will suck all the oil out of your skin.

mineral spirits. with a fresh fill dump a qt of atf in it - easier on the hands unless you of the younger generation and wear those hand condoms

the trick to using mineral spirits is...
leave it sit for a couple of weeks if you can, all the junk and oil will go to the bottom carefully pour off the top and you have ''new'' mineral spirits

A friend with a transmission shop uses mineral spirits. If it is good for all those little bits in an automatic transmission it is good enough for me.

i've used mineral spirits in mine with good results but add atf and its more effective.

I use mineral spirits as well, stuff lasts forever and is great at cutting grease. I use an older Safety Clean parts washer that sits in a 15 gallon drum, after 20 years of service the drum developed a leak last month...I didn't think I was ever going to find another 15 gallon steel drum to replace it!
