Cab and frt. Clip interchange ?
Bro wants to build a 47 to 54 trk. do the 2 ton series trks use the same cab and frt. end. as the 1/2 and 3/4 tons ? I know there are some different cab mount setup but that's something we can work with.

cabs are the same, front end is much larger (wider, longer) on the 2 tons.
also be aware, if you buy a 1 1/2 ton or larger for the cab and get the title, some states charge more for registration and some insurance companies more for the higher GVWR, which is why these things languish in sheds and only come out for the harvest

Usually you can get the tonnage reduced on the trucks when you register them. This state and I'd believe most states have a basic tonnage fee for certain chassis and then you buy "extra" tonnage if you want to be registered and legal to haul heavier loads.
Still a clear title to that cab with a bit of extra tonnage fee trumps all other hassles that guys or gals might run into with no title or a suspect title. If I got a good deal on a 1-1/2 or 2 ton with a clear title I'd change the title to my name and register it and then make a pickup out of it. Then when it was done and driving go in and see about reducing the tonnage because you made a "smaller" pickup out of it and it can't haul the load that it used to. On the front end sheet metal Joedoh hit it pretty well. 1/2 to 1 tons with the smooth front bumper have the same front end sheet metal and 1-1/2 and larger trucks with the heavy ribbed bumper have the big truck sheet metal. The only thing that will interchange is the actual grill bars if you remove them from a big truck grill framework and put them in a small truck grill frame work. for a big truck there is a bit more of a gap between the bars than there is on a small truck. Quick Id on hoods is that the hood of the small trucks is rounded at the back corners while the hoods on the big trucks curve down to a point at the back.
