Throttle pedal/ cable assy. ideas needed

Looking for a good throttle pedal/cable setup for my 55.2 truck with a BBC carbureted engine. I would like to keep the original style pedal, but I don't really like how the factory hinged it from the floor board.

I am considering a Lokar pedal that pivots on a shaft & then modifying it so I can attach the original style to it. Another concern is where & how to secure it to the firewall. All the firewall surfaces are angular &/or rounded etc. making it difficult to locate a good mounting surface.

If you have experience with this issue & have suggestions that would be very helpful. Thanks

The Lokar assy that goes through the floor with everything on the firewall side solves a lot of problems. Doesn't feel quite as natural as a regular pedal, but it works.

I agree with speed bump, here is some Lokar #'s if you want to look them up.
Very nice set up for the old trucks.

I sold the throttle assy off my 74 donor truck to a rodder. Hinge mounts on the firewall with cable pull operation.

Good point about the natural feel of the pedal. Pedal geometry & response are very important considerations.

I like the idea of using a "later" model (74) GM made pedal/cable assy. I would think that it works well & also would be much less expensive than the Lokar products.

Yes much cheaper and same basic design (looks like Lokar, etc. copied the GM design), and the geometry will be right.

I made a effort to locate repop pedal/cable assembles on-line without any luck.
Are new "later" year (74 etc.) GM pedal/cable assembles even available on-line or do I need to plan a junkyard tour?

Junk yard, any c/k 10-30 72 to mid 80s should work. Might even be some parts trucks on the classified on this site and of course Ebay...

I used the stock pedal linkage to attach a cable for my dual TB EFI. Using a picture from the above thread and some cheap windows photo editing software I made a crude example. The bracket bolts to the intake and holds the cable housing while the end of the cable fits into a bolt in the throttle linkage. Can try to obtain real pictures if needed...

I've always used donor parts but some times they don't work as well as I'd like. Along with getting a pedal that fits in the spot right and works comfortably (nothing worse than an uncomfortable gas pedal position) you have to get the right length cable and then there is the square hole for the cable issue for most GM cables.

Just a Google picture I found but this is the same way I set up the throttle on my 68 Impala. Factory floor hinged pedal running a newer cable lever.

Thanks guys for all your ideas.
You gave me a variety of pedal/cable sources & different configurations to run with. Right now, I am considering all of them & with a little further investigation I am sure that I will determine what is best for me. I look at it this way, all the planning we put into into our project builds before hand is the fun part & just as important as bolting & welding parts together!
