Used airbag setup, Newbie so need input on these parts please!
Looking to bag my 54 with a mustang II front and possibly a TCI 4 link or possibly a no limit trailing arm setup. Anyhow a local guy to me wrecked his car that had this setup installed on it. Its had about a year of use but I don't know anything about these parts as to what they are etc. He doesn't seem to be much help either, just a kid who said he paid $2700 for all of it when they put it in the car (96 buick). I don't know if the airbags themselves would work for me but what about the rest of it? Is it decent quality stuff? He is asking $700 for everything. I don't want to spend a whole lot of money so every little bit I can save helps. Please give me some input on this stuff THanks

Most of what is there you can use. The bags are a maybe until you work out your final setup. Looks like the setup has some age on it going by the amount of dirt. I would see how low he will go. Just going by the pictures for the condition I would be shooting for $500

I don't have any input on price, but I would suggest new lines and bags (lines for sure, bags might be a judgment call.)

i'm new to air ride myself and i'm using used airbags... just give them a good eye ball for signs of wear/chafing around the bag, the set up seems cheap enough

Tried offering the guy $500 and he wont budge. I just don't know anything about air bag suspensions to know if its worth doing or not. Or if I should just get something like the ridetech airpod.

The valves might be parker brand,But like said its all used and looked like it sat a long time.I would budget in maybe buying new bags,Rebuilding the valves and maybe the compressors maybe.

Re: Used airbag setup, Newbie so need input on these parts please!
I'm with a few of the other guys, I wouldn't personally mess with a used system. Compressor & bag brackets (if they worked for you) would be all I would get. We're talking a major component that could possibly be a nightmare to try & track down problems, especially since you are new to the stuff. I initially thought about it myself but others talked me out of it. I want to spend my time driving my truck, not hours & hours of troubleshooting. I went with an Accuair E-level setup, new except for the 2 compressors I bought from a friend. I too am fairly new at air systems. I'd keep the $700 & save up a bit more for a new system that will have tech support to walk you through everything you need.
Maybe if you knew what you were looking at and knew what components did so you could more easily troubleshoot problems I would say maybe. Not having experience with it you are just asking for major headaches IMO |
