rhino lining

Have any of u guys rhino lined the inside of ur ride? I'm kinda thinking of doing a nice even layer of rhino line and install my carpet over it. Thanks

I have had 2 vehicles lined. Here's my 2 cents:

1) You have to do the careful prep. Remove everything, clean very carefully, scuff it up. It takes a lot of time/work to do it right. There are many outfits that will gladly spray over everything, including metal-metal contact. If rust develops, which it prob will, the liner will eventually bubble and peel off. Remove, clean, remove every speck of rust, then spray primer.

2) The liner: you can do it yourself with room-temp, sprayed or rolled-on material for a decent result, depending on the material you choose and how careful/skilled you are. Some of the crappier materials are little more than rubberized undercoating that will eventually peel/flake off, become discolored, etc.

I chose to have a high-temp, hi-pressure poly material (Line-X or equivalent) sprayed on. Expensive, but worth it. Perfect finish, nearly indestructible. It is like sandpaper, tho, so is rough on bare skin. They can also spray roccker panels or the entire exterior, if you want. Again, it comes down to the quality of the material and the skill/detail of your sprayer. CHoose carefully. My guy was like an artist, did a beautiful job (after I spend hours and hours prepping it). Take a sharpie, mark screw holes you want to keep and ones you want to bury.

I run my K5 with no carpet, can hose it out. Rear tub area (in front of rear seat) has plastic plugs to remove, hose out, replace.

It is an excellent upgrade.

If you are going to install carpet over the coating, might was to consider Lizardskin as well. I'm going to try it in my 85.

I haven't sprayed it yet, I've got a few rust spots to repair first. They've used it on a few Trucks! tv show projects and it appeared easy to apply and came out looking nice. They have two different products, one for heat and one for sound, you can use them together but if you do they say you have to put the sound control down first. I wouldn't expect it to be as tough as a coat of bedliner, it's not what it's designed for. But if you're putting down carpet it doesn't matter anyway.

The interior of my K10 is Rhino lined, Dynomatted with jute in certain spots along with a heavy duty floor mat over all of that. Pretty dang quiet for a big truck. Many people think they can just bed line the floor and call it good. Hmmm, not so much. The bed liner still needs to be covered as it is hot, cold, & loud without anything over it. A buddy and I also did a roll on bed liner in a Ram Charger. That was a total waste of time as it was too thin and peeled right off within a few months even after 2 days of prep work before installing it. Definitely recommend a high quality bed liner such as Rhino, Line-X or even one of the high quality DYI liners like Raptor. Don’t even bother with Herculiner!

i want to do something with my suburban but not sure yet i know i want to get rid of the carpet but i know that if i run only bed liner in there it will be noisy i wonder if someone makes rubber floors for the entire truck that i could put over top of sound deadner

My plan is to Line-X the very rear portion. From behind the 1st rear seat to the tailgate. That is a separate section of carpet. Remove that part of carpet, get it sprayed. Leave carpet in the other parts of the truck.

As far as prep, it ended up being a frame off so the body was blasted when given to the shop. Prior to making my decision I talked to the regional Line-X representative and they wanted to use their primer on bare metal. Without it they wouldn't warranty the job. I also talked to them about colors. I ended up with white on the outside and black on the inside. They have a top coat that is UV blocking and guaranteed the white not to turn yellow. I have also seen them color match an electric blue Ford Raptor bed. Colors cost more so figure that into cost. Also remember that the exterior requires less block sanding so labor is less than a paint job... It ran me $4500 for interior and exterior (including underneath) along with some additional parts. Door panels, inner fenders, grille shell and inner...
