universal joint between tranny + tube?
Ok fellas im at a loss here.
What I got: 49 gmc w/ 235 chevy motor, 3 speed and stock torque tube (I assume). I recently got a 235 running and assembled a 3 speed tranny to it with intentions to connect the stock torque tube to it and make a driver. But I must be missing something. The back of the tranny looks like its missing an universal joint while the torque tube has a male end with splines sticking out. I did some searching but im not sure if that's all im missing. As far as I know, I need a universal joint that bolts to the tranny but also has a "hole in the middle of it for the "spline" to connect. Is that it? Sorry I don't have pix, its dark outside but Ill snap a few tomorrow. Here are two links that I have found useful: http://chevy.oldcarmanualproject.com...57cmpc0493.htm (diagram of the joint) http://www.oldchevytrucks.com/cart/p...=ME453&i=||||| (part that I think i need to buy to be in business and get my truck driveable?) Thanks for any input, I bolted the tranny to the 235 and thought I should be running by this weekend but apparently I am missing something. Thanks!

Re: universal joint between tranny + tube?
The back of the trans probably still has the yoke in it while you are missing the slip yoke and universal joint as seen in the lower left drawing that says universal joint passenger and truck.
If it's a stock seat in it have you had the cushion out? stuff like that often gets stuck under there when the trans gets worked on and the the trans cover gets taken out and the seat cushion gets pulled for easier access.

I think I need the yoke and ring maybe? And here I was thinking I would just bolt the tyranny up and drive it for a bit. Lol
