'59 Headlight Question
Hey Guys,
I'm restoring my '59 headlight buckets (cleaning, painting and new adjusters)..... Question: Is the 3 prong headlight placed on the "outside" headlight bucket? Is the 3 prong headlight the "regular" light? Essentially, the 3 prong light is the "regular" headlight and the 2 prong headlight is the inside of the bucket "bright" light (combined with the regular outside headlight)? Hope this makes sense. Thanks Tod |

Re: '59 Headlight Question
3 prong is hi/low, 2 prong is hi only, 3 prong to the outside
low beam is only one bulb, hi beam is both on hi new adjusters make all the difference and they're cheap too

Re: '59 Headlight Question
Clean up, paint, new wire and adjusters. I got my adjusters from a place off ebay called Florida Fastners. $9 for 4 (will do both 55-57 or 1 58-59), if you watch they have free shipping now and then. The adjusters are thicker than the original but use the same screw end configuration to fit the stock headlamp. Wire harness came from Classic Parts has all the right grommets, etc. Tan is outside, green inside.

Re: '59 Headlight Question
Thanks! However, I bought some used buckets from a place in Canada and ordered a new set of adjusters at the same time. I found that I had to chase the threads in the plastic adjusters with a 1/4-28 fine thread tap so the adjuster screws would screw in.
Sounds like you got a good deal on the cost. Thanks for your help. Next year I plan on rewiring the truck with an AAW kit. |
