Pictures needed
I need some clear photos of the correct brackets needed to mount an original am/fm stereo radio in a 1980 silverado. anybody?

the dash should be cut out with two holes that the radio knobs come through and that along with a kind of L shaped bracket in the rear hold it in the dash bezel and knobs finish it

Ditto what Bob said.
Here's a pic of a radio with the L-shaped bracket he's talking about. The lower end of that bracket is attached to a pre-existing hole in the dash below the radio. |

Thanks, one question is that bracket connected to the radio housing, a small mounting bracket that appears to be secured to radio. So two brackets? That is what I am seeing.

Yes, on the radio I posted, there is a 2nd smaller bracket screwed to the side of the case. That smaller bracket holds a clip-in stud that is used to secure the upper end of the larger L-shaped bracket. I believe the usage of that 2nd smaller bracket depends on the particular radio model though. Some models use that bracket while others have the side of the radio case stamped to directly accept the clip-in stud. |
