NP205 torque mounts

Hi K5 folks, it's been a long time coming but I'm getting a bit of momentum going on at least putting our '70 Jimmy back on the road. It will still be a work in progress too, but driving it again is still most important.

Last weekend I finished a pretty thorough rebuild of the transfer case and the newer style TH350 adapter I got from Turp McSpray a couple of years ago.

Anyway I have the new rubber crossmember mounts but have been hitting dead ends trying to find rubber torque mounts. There are neoprene ones that don't cost much and are common.

Anyone know where to get rubber ones or would it be ok to mix the two types and just order a set of neoprene ones?

Here's a couple pics of the fresh 205, please ignore the date stamp in the pics, my camera was off by a year and didn't notice it until after I downloaded them.

Any input will be appreciated.

Thank-you Jim, I'll send a PM. I can't come up with a reason why the neoprene torque mounts would not be compatable with the rubber mounts, just didn't know.

Just give a little time, as the next 5 days are booked, I'm guessing they'll fit in a 5.00 flat box

Careful mixing and matching. It'll cause different flex points and stress. Same goes for your motor mounts and tranny mounts. Motor and tranny should be all rubber or all poly, but not mixed.

When you say "neoprene", I assume you mean "polyurethane". If you use polyurethane mounts on the transfer case torque arm it won't cause any problems if you have rubber mounts everywhere else. All it's going to do is reduce the amount twist in the engine/transmission under heavy load.

My bad, you're right, neoprene was stuck in my mind because I just returned from a fishing trip....10 degrees

Thanks, no problem. I have to do some cleaning under there and some paint before I can install the transfer case and transmission.

The engine and transfer case (tranny too) lower mounts are all new rubber ones. I would use rubber torque mounts but have had no luck finding them so since this truck isn't going to be high horsepower or ridden hard on trails maybe it will be OK. It definitely is going to get driven a lot and ride trails though.

That was actually my bad Jim and Hemi43 as I mis-informed in my first post "neoprene"! Sorry about that guys! Oldtimers disease again on my part.

For what it's worth, I'm running rubber motor and transmission mounts and polyurethane on the torque arm.
