Engine frame mounts don't fit 64 c10
Ok everyone I have a 64 c10. I have a swapped in a front crossmember from a 77 c10. I have the original frame mounts from the 77c10. The bolt holes on the crossmember line up, but on the frame rail, there is about an inch gap and the holes are offset from eachother. What is the deal here am I missing something?

What engine are you going with. Those mounts look like 1/2 of the clam shell from a newer truck! (Missing the rubber insert, and top ) and Regular SBC mounts from a 64 will work, may need 1/2" to 1" shim on top.

For a better fit, you will need the frame brackets from a '73-'87 C20 or 30. They will fit the frame height much better. Or you could just shorten those to fit. If you do, do that cut all that horrible looking crap off of there and use the correct mounts.

There are also two things in life where making sure things are clean before getting started is of the utmost importance: welding is, again, the other one. -Brad

Re: Engine frame mounts don't fit 64 c10
I just went through similar on my 65. After 72 the mounts and perches changed drastically. For a 64 application use pre 67 perches and mounts and make a new hole in the crossmember. In mine the clam shell mounts made the motor sit way too high in the front.

Re: Engine frame mounts don't fit 64 c10
yea I know those welds looks terrible. story is, the guy I got the crossmember from had a Pontiac 400 engine in there and he welded those mounts to the perches. First thing I was going to do was get the nasty looking stuff off of there. The pictures I posted are for mock up purposes only. I have the rubber part of the mount already ordered. I will either make a spacer or shorten these down and tig weld if I go that rought
