Trans temp
Just wondering what temps you guy's see typically on your 4l80e transmissions. Mine has been pretty good over the past 2 years but every now and then it will get about 200 without anything out of the norm. No trailer pulling at all just cruising.
I'm going by the Scan Gauge 2 I have hooked to the ECU for the temperature reading. This winter when driving it wouldn't hardly get over 100*. The temp probe is inside the pan correct if I remember right. Wondering if a synthetic would help any?

Re: Trans temp
What type of oil cooler do you have? Did you log the type of driving you were doing when you saw the elevated temps (speeds, traffic conditions, etc.)? if it spent a lot of time out of lock up, it can get warmer (slower speeds, stop-and-go, etc.).

I have both cooler's internal and external. It would stay right at 195 200 which I know is ok but just wondering why it would climb. The water temp would be about 5*-10* warmer than trans temp. Just wondering if the synthetic would be worth the price. Signature Series Multi-Vehicle Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid Cold-Temperature Fluidity Cold, thick automatic transmission fluid lengthens shift times and reduces fuel economy. Signature Series Synthetic ATF is wax-free and delivers extraordinary cold-flow properties (< -60°F pour point). It helps improve shift response, energy efficiency and warm-up times.

Re: Trans temp
Really the only thing I could think of that would make it climb out of the norm is the lockup or lack of. When your cruising part throttle it should go into lockup, save gas and reduce heat from slipping. Of course that feature is controlled by the computer and modifiable by your tuner. If your tcc brake switch was malfunctioning it could cause issues with that. But at 200 i bet it's fine.
