engine compartment wiring
I have come to the point in my project where the motor and all equipment is back in place, and now I need to reroute all of the wiring. I already have the headlight harness in place. however I don't know exactly how the rest of the harness is routed. (down to the starter, A/C, sensors on engine, etc. it is an 83 K3500 with a 44/400/205. Anybody have engine bay pictures of a similarly equipped truck around that year? I'm sure I could make it work, but I would prefer it to be the way it is supposed to be.

Plug wire lay out. Apparently they were very concerned about the possibility of cross-fire between plug wires with the HEI systems and wanted the wires run exactly as shown: The on-engine wiring layout: Do you have the EPA sticker with the three letter code in the corner? |

Re: engine compartment wiring
Thanks to Chengny I now know how to route most of the engine compartment wiring. There is one connector I am having a hard time identifying, and figured id ask here since its related. It is a four pin female connector with 5 wires- yellow, black, white and two red wires together. I will try to snap a picture of it tonight when I am back home this evening but thought maybe someone would know from the colors grouped together. All the wires to the cruise control servo are accounted for, as are ac, alternator, starter, and a couple emissions related switches. I'm sure its something super obvious that I am overlooking, but sometimes I need the obvious pointed out for me.
I was working out of town and had a shop remove the engine for me. the same shop was supposed to drop it back in when I was finished with the rebuild but they closed. The guy who did the work is long gone. Had I done this myself I would have had labels and pictures of where all the wiring was routed (as this has saved my ass many times in the past). now I am stuck trying to put a puzzle back together.

Re: engine compartment wiring
I figured it out. Not sure what relay it is, but is was originally mounted on the driver side valve cover. I had to replace the valve covers, they were warped beyond making a seal, and had forgotten a relay went there. I searched through a box that I stored all the vacuum lines/fittings in and saw it in there with them.

Re: engine compartment wiring
It is much easier to put it back together if you take it apart yourself. With my Jeep build I pulled my donor engine out of a Grand Cherokee and didn't put it in my Wrangler until 2 years later. I was very glad that I at least took lots of pictures of the did-assembly.
