LS Swap with 4l60E Questions
So I'm kicking around performing the swap of a 4.8 or 5.3 along with a 4l60E Into my '70 GMC. That combo is very inexpensive as a pullout. I'm tired of the relatively low performance and gas guzzling 45 year old 350.
I know its almost a direct fit in the engine bay with some clearancing for exhaust and motor mount adaptors. But does the 4L60E fit without floor pan mods? Currently I have a 350/th400 combo. Other than a cam swap and tuning, I plan to keep everything as stock (referring to the donor) as possible for simplicity. Any other gotchyas or tips form those who have been there?

4L60e & 4L80e both will fit under a low hump floor.

Re: LS Swap with 4l60E Questions
If I didn't already have a ZZ4 350, a 6.0L LS swap would be what I'd put in, or if available, although pricey a 6.2L, or just pony up the money and do a 454 LSX.

Re: LS Swap with 4l60E Questions
Yes pull outs are cheap. [This is not a for sale] I normally get $1250 for a 5.3 and $1000 for 4.8's. now that is motor trans throttle box [and pedal]if newer than 03[truck]or late 01 up Tahoe Suburban.
Things you should get from a good place [to get one] They will include fan if possible, air intake with mass a/f meter, Trans, [with yoke]PCM or ECM depending on year [that of course is the computer]and of course motor with all the wiring. The motor should have the belts and all brackets that stuff can cost you two tons if you have to piece meal it together. Even if you don't need a certain part it needs to come with a pullout so you might could barter something farther down the road unless the seller will knock off for the stuff you don't need. Fuel system can be cheap or expensive just depending on how you want to go but it is gonna need to be planned for and plan well. Good luck Jim |

Lots of info over on the LSx Swap Forum. I just did the swap in my '67 Panel Truck and I love it. LockDoc
