Reassemble questions
I am putting my interior back together and started with the door glass. I got my vents and door glass in. Questions tho, Does the rubber weatherstrip on bottom of vent go in the door or outside of the door? It wrinkles up if I try to leave it on outside of the door but when its in the door there is a small gap, maybe 1/8 inch. Is the gap supposed to be there? Just worried for rain getting in the door.
Also, the bolt that goes in from inside the door just under the vent window. Does that tighten the gap between them? And what size bolt is this because I don't have it. Lastly, Where can I order the rubber for the door glass channel? The one that is inside the door NOT the felt for the vent window. Thanks for any help. |

Re: Reassemble questions
I'm not sure about it but I am about to gut some extra doors that I have to salvage parts from......gonna try to do it tonight.
if you don't get an answer before I get to them.....I will find out how they assemble....also will look at the vent window rubber for you. what year is yours? I think that screw assembly on the 69-71 is slightly different from the '72 on edit: it looks like the rubber goes to the inside of the door here is the assembly of the screw with the ferrule....one side on mine is missing.....looking in the empty hole it looks like a reinforcing screw for the vent window assembly?

Re: Reassemble questions
The rubber goes inside of the door. You may have to trim a bit off so that it doesn't get pinched between the door skin and the vent window channel.
The bolt is a #10 (3/16) sheet metal screw around 2" long, and it screws into a stamped clip. When tightened, it squeezes the door inner and outer against the 1/4 window glass channel. I used glass cleaner as a lubricant to put everything back together. |

Re: Reassemble questions
Ok thanks alot! I guess I will need that screw to tighten my door to the rubber on the vent window. That's what I was thinking but helps to know for sure. Mine is a 72, I dont know if I had the ferrule like yours or not. I have 2 screws at the bottom of the door panel for the vent window then 3 screws on the top rail that go into the top of the vent.

Re: Reassemble questions
If you have extras Dwayne, I may be interested since it appears as if hemi is not going to reproduce the top notch ones that he made and gave us all a shot of in his build thread. I was really hoping he would offer some up for sale.

Re: Reassemble questions
HAHAHA !! The ones I made took a lot of time and there's no way I could sell them at a reasonable price. If I could sell a few thousand, I would make a mold and mass produce them. LOL

Re: Reassemble questions
I got the rear glass channel runs in from Mane's yesterday afternoon and installed them last night....they seem to be quality made pieces and fit well.
The bottom 2 screws on the passenger side door that hold the channel were broken off and I broke the top one off taking it out....I took it out and managed to get them drilled out and re-tapped......bead blasted, painted and re-installed it. I haven't put the new division felt in yet, but the new rear runs really tightened up my windows and put and end to the squeaking and rattling. I'm gonna put new rubber in the wing windows as soon as it arrives....

Re: Reassemble questions
Rippen, What do you want for a set of those screws? Prefer the ones with the clip in case I don't have mine

Re: Reassemble questions
Seems kinda steep for 2 screws..Not saying they aren't worth that. Could you do any less?

Re: Reassemble questions
How's 19, does seem steep but you have to disassemble the door to get the clip out, buy an envelope to mail it, and then drive to the post office. It's just a small item but all that time adds up.
