cam swap.
ok LS gurus here`s one for you
Can you take 6.0 stock cam with 3 holes and mount it in a 5.3 with a 3 hole cam. (2003 yukon) to wake up the engine? and if so what else would I need from the 6.0 donor?

Re: cam swap.
Best way to "wake up" a stock 5.3 is a set of long tube headers and a tune. Another stock truck cam isn't worth the effort.

Re: cam swap.
yes it will work just fine, but it won't "wake it up" as you describe.
Heavymetl is spot on. Headers and tune are best "bang for buck." I have a 6.0 cam in a 5.3 and if you weren't told it had been swapped then you wouldn't know it. I'd even go as far as to say it is wasted effort. |

Re: cam swap.
If you're still wanting to do a cam swap take a look at Cam Motion or Brian Tooley Racing. They both have drop in camshafts for the 5.3 and 6.0 truck engines that are designed to work with the cheap LS6 valve springs and stock push rods and lifters to keep the cost to a minimum.

Re: cam swap.
Listen to what NorCal says. I put the Brian Tooley Stg.1 cam and LS6 spring in my otherwise stock 5.3L. It's docile until you want to play, then hang on!! And I can still get 19mpg(highway). I'm lovin' it. BTW, my truck is a '80 swb square
