Newbie's 66

Photo of my 66 SWB fleet. Nice original AZ truck, 283 / 4 speed. Wiring is shot, spliced, lengthened using wire nuts and tape. Long story short, I purchased an American AutoWire harness, going to give it a go his weekend planning on taking my time. Any must haves or any guidance would be very much appreciated.

Thanks
Mike

Re: Newbie's 66

Nice truck, when doing wiring...be sure to lay everything out and become familiar with the wiring. Also be sure to have an idea of where the Old wiring was routed and How so you can either do the same or make things better by routing them in better places. Make sure you have plenty of Loom, electrical tape, and zip ties. The cleaner the wiring the better....and the more you can route Together the better. Anyhow, Ta2Don is in the middle of wiring his rig so I am sure he can be an expert adviser on that subject.

Re: Newbie's 66

I'm finishing up installing the American Autowire Update kit in my '66 right now. I started on Monday and got it running today. Tomorrow I will button everything up and should have it completed. My recommendation is to just take your time and practice crimping some terminals before you start. I would also suggest getting a high quality crimping tool.

I'm an armature when it comes to wiring, but overall this project has gone pretty smooth.

Good Luck,
Chance
