6" lift with 35" tires
Can someone show me a few pictures with 35"x12.5" tires using ONLY a 6" lift? Want to see how the combo looks. In addition, has anyone had success running a slightly larger tire without rubbing or trimming the fenders.....Say 37x12.5 or 36x14.5 tires?
Thanks for the help, Goose |

Here's a pic, of a 6" lift and 35's on a truck. I think you can go bigger than 35" with a 6" lift, but it will rub. Not sure on that one though. I plan on a 6" + 35's myself.

I spoke with FourWheel Parts Wholesalers today and they said that I should be able to run 37"x12.5" or 36"x14.5" tires without rubbing. Unfortunately, I have a hard time believing these salesmen when it comes to tearing up the sheetmetal on my truck.
1969 GMC: Thanks for the picture...That is exactly what I'm looking for....Nice stance! I'm leaning toward the 36"x14.5" Truxx All-Terrain tires by Interco. I've seen several Super Duty's running them and they look sharp! |

Here's a pic of my truck with a 6" lift and 35's. You'll be able to get away with the 37's or the wider 36's if you don't plan on ever wheeling. I think you might have some rubbing issues otherwise. I know there was a guy on CK5 that put on 35 x 14.5's Swampers on with his 6" lift and the nobs on the swampers rubbed (or thunked). A tame tread patter will make less likely to rub too. Either way, post pictures!

Bouncy....I was hoping your blazer had that combination. Yours is one of my favorites with the tire/lift combo.
Just out of curiousity....Are you running 10" rims on your truck and how far outside the fenders do your tires stick? In my ideal world, the tires will stick out approximately 2" wider than the fenders, giving a stocky appearance without really needing fender flares, etc. Currently, I've got a set of 35"x12.5"x15" Pro-Comp Mud Terrains mounted on 15"x10" Weld Typhoon wheels (3.625" backspacing) ordered and I have until Friday to change my mind, if I need to. |

I'm running 8" rims. The tires just barely stick out past the fenders. My tread is very mild though. I think you'll need to run 14.5" tires to run 10" rims, but check with the tire shops.
Have you seen the combo that CK5 member IGOR is running? He has 17 wheels with 37" BFG's. Not sure how much lift or how wide the wheels are, but I really like the looks of his set-up.

Wow, baggedblaz, your running 12inch wide wheels with 12.5 tires. I heard that wasn't possible. I guess I heard wrong. Good to know!

Hey Bagged....Sharp looking rig. How far out past the fenders do your front wheels ride? I'm having my rearend built the same width as my front end, so I should have front and rear setting about the same distance.
Bouncy....I've ran 33"x12.5" tires on 10" rims with good success, so 35" should not be a problem. Matter of fact, if you look in many catelogs, they recommend a 8-10" rim for a 12.5" tire. As for running 12" wheels, I've never tried that, other than on a 39" tire that I ran on an old blazer. |

Well, after looking at the pictures blue_69 posted, I'm wondering if my rims are 10". The look wider than his second picture, but not quite as wide as baggedblaz. I don't think the wheels are stamped with the size anywhere...

yes bluegoose they were fun countrys i think they were 36x15x15 or 14 can't remember.. btw blu why are you widening your rear? just curious do you plan on wheelin with it they stagger them for a reason to keep the foot prints seperate for traction i thought all 4x4's are like that.. my fronts only stick out 2-2 1/2 inches past the fender the tread is right at the fender the wheels and sidewall are wider

Bagged....Sounds like you have a winning combo. I changed my order yesterday and I'm going with the 36"x14.5"x15" Trxus All Terrains on 15"x10" Weld Typhoon wheels with 3.625" offset. From what I can tell, they should stick out a little, but not too much either. I'll have to keep an eye on things and watch to see if a little trimming is needed while cornering. Four Wheel Parts Wholesalers said that they shouldn't require any and it looks like you've confirmed that.....We will see. This truck will be a 95% on-road vehicle, so I can get by with a little tighter fit and if need be, I can always have the body shop massage out the fenders a little to give some clearance.
Actually, I'm trying to get the the rear end into the same track as the front. The front end is 69" wide, but the rear end is actually a few inches narrower...at least on my truck. When I spoke with DTS, they said that it is a very common request to have the rearend set at the same width as the front end to give an even stance. I've seen alot of trucks that have the nice wide stance up front yet the rear tires are tucked up under the body. My original thought was that the width increase was due to the front end tapering end, but after further checking, it is actually just a shorter axle assembly. |
