Steering column upper bearing
I am finally getting around to rebuilding the steering column on the '64. The bottom bearing is mostly dust but the upper seems to still be in good shape. Prob since it's only a couple years old, but it's sloppy.
I found a cone/tube shaped part that was pushed down into the steering column tube, I see that when its fit into the switch assembly the upper bearing isn't so sloppy. Is this where it's supposed to sit? What holds it there? Sorry for such a long winded question. Here's a pic of the part. |

Re: Steering column upper bearing
I think I remember a recent thread on this topic.

Re: Steering column upper bearing
I did a search and read some threads on steering columns, but don't recall seeing this cone/tube part.
