Robyn's '76 "steering box"
Does anyone know if a 1980 steering box will fit a '76? In the pics they look nearly identical.
The local parts house can only find an '80. Please let me know ASAP, I need to order so I can get it Friday. |

Yes, I believe you should have no problem. I'm not positive, but you may run into problems between 3/4 ton -1/2 ton steering boxes. But 1/2 to 1/2 should be okay. I once installed a steering box from a 78 onto a 72 without much trouble.

can't remember off the top of my head but they changed to metric fittings about that time so check that out. Someone will sound in on that.

Correct...80 up used metric/O ring fittings
Other than adapting the hose all will fit (2wd and 4 wd are different) |

Thank you for your replies about the steering box. I got a remanufactured one that did NOT have the Poppet valve installed is that normal? The kid at the parts house was at a loss when I asked him. Must not have been his department.
