New guy from San Diego.
Just picked up this truck today, been lurking on this forum and got some great ideas here. Another "long stepper". Got a good deal and truck made it home through 22 miles of city traffic. It overheated and and the brakes are kind of scary, but it made it. Yes, those are Ford hubcaps. This is the "as found" set of pictures.

Re: New guy from San Diego.
The reason it over heated and had brake problems are the ford hub caps. Gotta throw those in the scrape yard.
Nice truck! Plans?

Welcome to the forum
Aside from the hood, the body looks to be in nice shape.

Re: New guy from San Diego.
I was thinking of repainting the interior, but leaving the outside just like it is. Except put some Chevy hubcaps on it. What do you think? I'm an old fart, but the younger guys I know all say to leave the paint as is. |

I would def. want to take that 4 speed gearbox shifter retaining ring and install it where it goes soon. Otherwise the shifter might come out in your hand while driving down the road. Very cool looking truck. P.S. I'm an old San Diego guy. Actually more El Cajon area. Moved away in 82.

Re: New guy from San Diego.
interesting shifter, I had to do a double take as the pictures has the clutch peddle lined up perfect with the e-brake handle and I was trying to figure out how you used the clutch.....
