LQ4 Question

I purchased an LQ4/4L80E combo this weekend. The guy I bought it from said it came out of a 2003 Silverado 2500. The production date of the truck was 11/02. Everything I read online says the 2003 engines in the trucks were drive by wire. This engine is a drive by cable. Has anyone seen this before? From my research it appears the vans were drive by cable until around 2006 but the trucks all changed in 2003. This has me puzzled.

Someone could have put a different throttle body on it. Or it could have came from a van.

Did it come with the wire harness? If it did, is it a truck or van harness?

How do I tell the difference between the truck and van harness? I was told it came from a truck and that he drove it before he pulled it.

A van harness will be a lot longer than a truck one. Also, vans have a bigger fan that is black with more blades than a truck engine. The dipsticks will both be longer and vans use a different, smaller MAF. If it is a 2003 or newer engine, there will be a small hose going from the valve cover to the intake right behind the throttle body, but if its a 2002 or older, that hose will go to the throttle body its self.

LS1NOVA71 thanks for the information. The hose goes to the throttle body so it must be a 2002.
