Dual-carb intake/column set ups?

Posted for a buddy working on his 52. Any incite would be greatly appreciated. Thanks much!

What do other dual-carb intake / column shift modifications look like? Some, obviously, use a floor shifter. Some Chevy forums I have seen explain cutting/welding and offsetting the shift arms or cutting the locating pin on the bottom of the box to the column and rotating it. I do not want to cut my factory arms but I am looking for (hard to find) a sacrificial box to modify. For right now, I am just concerned with getting it driving to get it to the paint shop so, I have time to play with this a bit as I am leaving the stock intake on it for now.
