Whats the rundown on swapping a l94
Bought a L94 (6.2) out of a wrecked 2011 escalade.I plan to run a new 4l75e trans. So far I have researched that I need to swap oil pans to a f-body pan (in the process of swapping), headers(open to recommendations, considering sanderston ), and a custom wiring harness ecm (considering pci or spear tech ). My question is what else do I need to make this a good swap. I realize it is not the ideal choice of motors but I have it so at this point it makes the most sense to make it work. Looks like I may need to remove the fuel management system. Any knowledge on this will be highly appreciated.

Don't forget about the fuel system..personally I wouldn't keep the tank in the cab.. i would go with frame mounted tank...but you'll need to consider all that as well..in tank pump or inline oump ..reg..supply and return lines

Get in touch with bill over at BP Automotive for your wiring harness. He custom builds all his harnesses. He does a great job and answers any questions.

Re: Whats the rundown on swapping a l94
Fuel system wise I am going with a boyds rear mount tank. PCI can do a custom harness for the 6.2/4l75e combo with ecm/tcm to go with it. The things I haven't figured out are if I should swap for a different intake, if I need to install a kit to remove DOD (Displacement on demand). From what I have read the variable valve timing is a good thing for the most part.

Update: DOD or Active fuel management can be turned off through tuning and is only necessary to install 'delete kit' when swapping cams.

Re: Whats the rundown on swapping a l94
Just thinking about mating the 4l75e to a newer engine, wasn't the trans part of a 27x reluctor ring on the engine with a pcm to control both engine and trans during its production, where as the newer engines have a 54x(??) reluctor ring on the engine and the engine has a separate controller and the trans has an internal tranny controller.
Not sure, just random thoughts. |
