VSS with a TH350...

OK, I am putting in a LM7 into my truck, but I am using a TH350 for the trans since I had one sitting ready to go.

I have heard that I need to have a VSS signal that goes to the PCM to help avoid stalling the engine under hard breaking conditions. Since the TH350 has no provision for a VSS sensor, HOW DO I get that signal to the PCM?

OR - Do I really NEED that signal to the PCM?

Thanks Rob. I really wanted to run the stock mechanical speedo too. Let me looking that and I will get back to you. Your part looks like a good deal if I skip the stock speedo.

Re: VSS with a TH350...

I'm running mine without the VSS on a TH350. I turned off engine braking in the tune, so no worries with it.

Re: VSS with a TH350...

Thanks for the input. I have heard that I can do that, but just not sure what I want to do just yet.

Look like Dakota Digital has a 8k per mile pulse generator that is a pass thru that will let me keep my stock speedo. Seems to be cost effective at under $50.

Re: VSS with a TH350...

jagsthatrun has this kit, pricey tho for what it is.

I believe the 8k pulse pass thru sender works as well. I am actually not running a VSS at this time, I don't have stalling issues but decel is not as smooth has it could be. But I am running an SM465 manual, not sure how well that will work with an automatic.

Re: VSS with a TH350...

I think that in the tune you can adjust the tune to accept 8000k . That dakota digital piece should work for you.

Who is programing your pcm ?

Re: VSS with a TH350...

I have spoken to the tuner, he can program the VSS to accept the 8k pulse signal. For this swap I am just going to have Brent at lt1swap.com do the vats delete and turn the codes off for the trans when I get it done.
