Keep or Use for Parts
I have a 2005 Chevy Tahoe that I would like to sell. I was working with my father this weekend, and we were talking about selling the Tahoe. He said keep it, use the 5.3(it was rebuilt only 15,000 miles ago) Transmission, not sure how many miles are on it. Then what ever else(like the seats). I am trying to sell it for 3000. Not a single offer over 1500.00 Odo says 288,000 miles. He thinks I should find another Jimmy/Blazer and swap the motor in.
What do you guys think?

Re: Keep or Use for Parts
Keep it, I'm actually looking at a running driving suburban to rob its supercharged 5.3 from.

Re: Keep or Use for Parts
3k seems like a good deal with a rebuilt engine. That would sell easy here.

Re: Keep or Use for Parts
I think I will drop the insurance on it. Get going finding a 67-72 truck and start the swap. I have a decent line on one (74 - 2 wheel drive step side) with out an engine here in Nebraska.
I will get the seats out of it and use them in the 72 Jimmy project and start selling the rest. Hemi43, thats how I start most of my conversations about vehicles. Donate it to me. Then I work up on Price from there. I got real lucky and paid 9,000 for the 2005 Denali, the 2005 Tahoe and a 2004 Chevy Express Van. One of those deals that just kinda fell into my lap. The Denali is a great SUV for the Family. Used the Engine out of the 04 Express to rebuild, put it in the Tahoe. Sold the rest of the Van for parts/scrap. The orginal engine out of the Tahoe, had a crack in the block between the Cam and the Main bearing. It ran but sounded awful. It was a 5.3 has anyone ever heard of that, never seen one since that way.
