58 - TCI 4 link with Explorer 8.8 rear?
I was wondering if anyone out there installed an Explorer 8.8 with a TCI 4 link rear suspension on a 55-59? Did it work well, or would you recommend a different 4-link? PS, I was thinking of using wheel adapters to get to a 5X4.75 bolt pattern, I think this would give me the ballpark 62-62.5" width.
Thanks!

Re: 58 - TCI 4 link with Explorer 8.8 rear?
I haven't installed a TCI 4link with an Explorer 8.8 but usually the problem is a triangulated 4 link with the offset housing. Since the TCI looks to be a parallel 4 link you shouldn't have a problem.
The only issue you might have is the brackets that weld to the axle. If they are designed for a 3.00" axle tube, you may have to modify them. The Explorer axle tubes are 3.25". That's the problem I had installing a trailing arm suspension with an 8.8 in my '51. |
