early c4 parking brake replacement?

Putting an '85 c4 rear end in my '57, it has been sitting for a number of yrs in a guy's shop that I got it from. I started taking it apart to inspect and clean it up, lots of old dirt and grease. I pulled the calipers and rotors off and found the parking brake pretty much trashed, rusted, froze up, linings falling apart ect. rotors and calipers kinda iffy. Looks like a complete brake replacement is in order, so I did a little research and it looks like if I change the caliper mount that holds the hub to the post '88 style I would be able to use the later style caliper and rotor. Is this possible? Has anyone done this? Hate to buy a bunch of new parts and find out something doesn't line up right. thoughts on which way to go?
