Birthday junkin'
Didn't have much going on today and it was about 32 degrees and sunny, so...
Hit up the local scrap yard and found a few goodies. Getting the one motorhome tilt out was NOT pleasant. Put it this way, Minnesota mud and ice, crawl through where the grill was and pop up like a gopher where the engine used to be. Almost gave up twice... Still better than working. The 2 fenders are decent and already pulled, the tach and dash pad I pulled from a mid 80s c-70 and the 2 motorhome tilts to top it off.

Re: Birthday junkin'
Nice finds. You must have some nice salvage yards up their. Down here in SW Mn hardly ever find stuff like that. But I don't go look much either

Re: Birthday junkin'
That's the thing, the parts are out there usually, but you have to put the time in to go chasing. It is definitely getting tougher to find stuff.

Good finds Eric. Yup you can still find stuff if you beat the bushes a little bit. I picked these up the other day.... '77 Van tilt & '69-'70 grille. It will take the two grilles to make one good one but the surround is pretty nice and the insert is good on the other one. LockDoc

Re: Birthday junkin'
I was beating the bushes and an old lady came out swinging her broom and ran me off! I wish I had time to go. I have two junk yards I've been wanting to hit and I pretty much just do it in the winter. My weekend is filled up already, so nt this weekend.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Re: Birthday junkin'
Thanks for the birthday wishes.
Leon, that is a nice looking grill you scored. Tim, were you at the old folks home beating bushes again?

I think Tim spends a lot of time there for some reason.... I'm going to try and go back tomorrow and pick up some doors, '67/'68 fenders, '67/'68 grille, and a couple of hoods. There is a complete '67 at this place but the shed roof fell in on it. It doesn't look all that bad but you never know until it is uncovered..... There is also a '72 ladder truck there. I will have to take some pictures of it. Let us know if you make it back over to the yard. LockDoc

For some reason? Do you realize how many single women are there? My buddy had an all original '57 Chevy convertible a building came down on. The only dent was across the left front fender where a beam came across it. Original interior in tact and original Inca Silver paint. He put a fuel tank, exhaust, and rebuilt the 283, but it sat in his garage. He had to plant trees to block the view of his house garage because when the door was open (usually is when he's home) people would bug him to buy it. There was this one older gentleman that was persistent, would drop by a few times a year. One day, after he had just had a big shop built, the guy finally came up to the right price. The car left and the building got paid off! He's younger and figured it wasn't really the era he is into. He's big on Buick turbo 6s. What does this have to do with anything? Go check that '67 out!!
