Ok a lil delima here. The cover that goes inside the oil pan. Do i need to replace it with camaro one or can i use the one on the truck motor?
If i need to replace it with the camaro one though the back 2 bolts do not line up and ill have to drill new holes in the cover
Motor is a 5.3 from a yukon 2004

Also.is there a trick to mounting the gasket? Those alignment pegs are messin me up!

I used a camaro pan with camaro windage tray (like $25 shipped on ebay fyi) and had no issues with bolts lining up. You could also modify the truck windage tray, it's a pretty simple piece after all.

Not sure what you're referring to with aligning the gasket, as the bolts should line it up pretty easily. I did not have any alignment pegs on mine afaict.

Now that I think about it, I think you might have the wrong pan... the back bolts definitely line up on my 2004 ecalade engine to the f-body pan.

Yup they did. I just didnt mock it up back far enough. Lol
Another question. I cannot remember for the life of me what hooked up to this.

There most likely was nothing hooked up to that piece unless it was drilled and threaded . I drilled mine out and put my oil sending unit in it for my gauge .

Im currently working on a 4.8 and nothing was connected there on mine. i think its there to give you options similar to what homemade 87 did with his.

The tapped ones are for oil temp senders, corvette only I think.

You can cut the truck windsge tray to work with the ls1 oil pan. I did it and it works plenty fine. Just google it.

Use the correct windage tray and pickup tube with the corresponding oil pan. They're different for a reason.
