cam selection and so confused with VVT

Hi guys, I'm looking to install a BTR Stage 3 in an LQ4.
I was all ready to purchase, but now I'm not sure it will work for my application.

I'm planning for a carb set-up (engine didn't come with an intake, harness or ecu)
Transmission will be a 5 speed.

So question/concern is, will the cam work? regarding the VVT. Do I have to delete it? Can I just put the cam in and call it a day?(still trying to digest all this information)
