What's it worth?
Hello everyone. Just joined the site after months of looking at everyone's threads and getting information. I have found a 1966 Chevy step side (small window) for sale $1000 obo. Pretty good shape, all glass is good, rolling on 4 aluminum slotted rims. Couple of issues. No motor or transmission. Guy says it is a parts truck no title. Comes with a bed of parts, extra hood and doors. My question is the truck worth $800-$1000 with no title. How hard is it to get a title in Arkansas? Thanks for any information.

Re: What's it worth?
As with anything it will only be worth what someone is willing to pay for it.
Judge with your skills, time and funds. Most folks here will tell you to buy the best truck you can afford, then update from there. Good luck!

Re: What's it worth?
Around here, titles are obtainable after some fees are paid. I'm not sure about Arkansas. If it's a good solid truck... even without engine and trans, I would say it's a fair price he's asking. Especially with a bed full of extra parts.

Re: What's it worth?
Georgia doesn't need a title for 20 years old and older.
Up thru 1965 or 66, they left the dealership without a title. So check your state's requirements and policies. -Brad

Re: What's it worth?
Texas is the gastapo, lost titles have to be investigated by the auto theft task force and if clean, a bonded title will be needed. You will need to get an insurance policy for the value of the vehicle in case the owner on the title comes up and say mine!
I've heard some real outrageous stories but my experience is it's just a pita, but workabale.

Re: What's it worth?
No I don't have any pictures yet. I drive by it everyday going to work. When I called about it and found out about no title I was kind of leery. The truck is actually in Texas so it would have a Texas Bill of Sale and I live in Arkansas. Thanks.

Re: What's it worth?
Call your DMV and ask them what is needed. I think if there isn't a bunch of rust holes in the truck it seems like a pretty good deal these days. As long as it is not a big hassle to get it registered and make sure to check and see if the vin is clean or if it even has a vin tag on it.

Re: What's it worth?
I apologize. I have always wanted a 60's model Chevy truck as a project to fix up and was just curious if good deal. The no title issue seems like an extra hassle. I will eventually get one though. Lot of great trucks and ideas on this site. Thanks.
