Fitting a stainless steel hood center strip on a 48 GMC hood

How do I fit a stainless steel hood center strip on a 48 GMC truck? I'm concerned that I might kink the center strip.

Thanks

Obviously very carefully, the tabs fit down in the slots alongside the center divide and you twist them slightly with a pair of pliers on the inside while holding the strip down on the outside. It's best to have a helper but I have had the strip off an on my 48 Chevy a couple of times.
