Bumpers and grille for a 63 Panel
Hello!
I am sneaking up on getting my 63 panel on the road, and am trying to figure out the bumpers and grille. I have a grill that has a lot of surface rust (and worse) and a few small dings. Was thinking I would have it sandblasted and painted, but a new chrome grill would be easier, and better looking, I think. That's when I discovered that there do not seem to be any repop '63 grills. Will a 64-66 fit if I am not overly concerned about originality? Also, bumpers. I read that for 64-66 the front bumper can be re-purposed to the rear. Is the same true of 63 bumpers, and will 64-66 bumpers fit? Finally, I spent the weekend with an American Autowire kit. I was quite impressed, and would recommend them as a vendor. Thanks in advance for any help. Nadodave |

I've also heard rumors that the front can be adapted to the rear on a Suburban, but so far, I've not seen anyone actually do it ...well, that I know of anyway. Give it a try and let us know. |

Re: Bumpers and grille for a 63 Panel
Thanks for the gouge on the bumpers. I plan to buy a front bumper and see what it looks like on the back before possibly buying another. Any idea whether a 64-66 grill will fit a 63?

Grill will fit. You might have to drill a couple new holes in the core support.

Re: Bumpers and grille for a 63 Panel
think the 60-62 frt bumpers vertical bolt spacing is better for the 63-66 rear bumper

Re: Bumpers and grille for a 63 Panel
There is a thread disussing using the front bumper on the rear. The bolt spacing is different, I plan on making/welding a bracket so I can use the holes in the front bumper rather than modifying the bumper like in the post but you can see difference in hole placement between the front and rear.
